Wow this place is amazing. No wonder there is always a line to get in. We didn't wait long in the rain maybe 30 min or so but the place provides umbrellas for the guests in line- THANK YOU FOR THAT!! Anyways, I got the small white chicken with baked beans and cole slaw and he got the large w Mac and cheese and potato salad. The employees were all so friendly. They love their job it's plain as day that you can tell. The one guy w the crazy hair and galaxy leggings under his shorts was AWESOME!! He should def be recognized for his personality and customer service.

I'll be back next year!! Thank you!!

    'When in Nashville' - right?

As expected, when we arrived the line was down the street. Thankfully the weather was beautiful so we had no problem waiting for one of the cities most popular spots. By the time we joined the line, to ordering food was 50 minutes, which some of the locals said is fairly standard for a Sunday lunch.

You have a nice variety on the menu, wings, tenders, sandwiches etc. you can pick your level of 'heat' for your chicken and then your sides. Personally, I chose the tender combo. $10.50. I had 3 tenders (hot), with the bread and pickles, 2 sides (I chose Mac n cheese and baked beans). Once ordered it was easy to see why the long wait. The seating area is fairly small and it's on you to find your own spot. If it's just 1 or 2 people you should be ok squeezing on a table and having a community meal, however, if you're in a group of 4 or more... you're probably going to struggle for a while.

The food was delivered to our table after about 10 minutes. Immediately I was shocked at the size of the chicken tenders. They looked AMAZING. The tenders are laid on a slice of bread, with 2 pickle chips speared through the top and the sides in separate tubs.

The chicken was breaded, seasoned and cooked to perfection. The hot seasoning was perfect for me because it was hot enough that it made my nose run a little, but not so hot that I couldn't enjoy it. With there being so much, I got through 2 and a half tenders before I had to tap out. It was worth standing in line for.

Now for the negatives.... which I hate to do because the chicken was so good. Throughout the weekend we are at a lot of places and ate a lot of Mac n cheese. Unfortunately the Mac n cheese at Hattie B's was some of the worst I've ever had in my life. The pasta itself was so soft and soggy, it felt like it had been cooked for an hour, while the cheese was so thin, runny and flavorless. The baked beans were fairly similar. They were delivered in what almost seemed like water, and lacked flavor.

Now I know this is a chicken spot.... and based on their chicken.... it was fantastic!  And the prices were phenomenal too. I would like to go back on day if I'm in the city.

Finally got to make the trip to this famous joint to see if it would live up to the hype, and I have mixed reviews.

It's a small place, so we had to wait an hour to order and get seated. An hour to two hour wait is supposedly standard, so be prepared for that.

The hot chicken is great, though it seems like the spice might be more about heat rather than flavor. (If I do come back, I might have to try the mild/medium instead.) I also ordered the pimento Mac & cheese and the red skin potato salad. The Mac & cheese was kind of disappointing, couldn't really finish it, but I really enjoyed the red skin potato salad. The sweet tea was great, but finish it quickly or it loses its solid flavor. I was also a big fan of the banana pudding.

Altogether, not sure if the place was as great as people made it out to be, but if you're a fan of heat, definitely give the place a visit.

I love Hattie b's and make it a point to get my fix every time I'm in nashville. The wait wasn't too bad on this Tuesday evening, though I quickly thought that a separate beer line would've been great to enjoy a beer while waiting.

This time around I ordered the small dark plate (as per usual) damn hot with a shut the cluck up tender. My mistake was trying the tender first and quickly realizing I wouldn't be able to feel a thing afterwards. Now I know damn hot is my limit, and also didn't realize the plate didn't come with sides. Good thing I was able to steal my coworkers fries and mac and cheese!

The banana pudding was a nice sweet dessert- you can't go wrong with this or the peach cobbler (with ice cream of course!).

So, overrated seems harsh, but that would be the direction I'd lean. Was it good? Absolutely. Was it worth 1.5hrs of waiting in a light drizzle? No. Something interesting (because I talk to everybody) is most everyone had never been here before. So it's a bit of a tourist thing. There also was only 1 cash register. Was it to create a line and some hype? Was it to allow turnover in seating (because there wasn't much-very limited)? Either way, I'm glad I did it and enjoyed the experience. That being said, I won't do it again.

Now on to the food...it's good. The pimento Mac and cheese was great, the fries were good, the chicken wasn't all breading and seemed like it didn't come frozen in a bag. The servers were quick and full of personality. I liked the place, I just didn't think the food validated the wait time.
